MPSA Strengthens Strategic Supplier Partnerships
Mitsubishi Power Systems Americas, Inc. (MPSA) hosted its first Supplier Summit! Chief Executive Officers and senior management from fifty major companies attended the summit, all who maintain supplier business relationships with MPSA. The Savannah, Georgia gathering was an important opportunity to sustain and expand the crucial dialogue between MPSA and its suppliers to ensure that MPSA is able to meet the needs of its clients seeking innovative, energy efficient power systems.
Jim Williams, MPSA Senior Vice President North American Manufacturing, presented MPSA’s history and offered a future business outlook. One hundred forty attendees representing fifty-five suppliers participated in the conference along with MPSA executives, managers and global sourcing specialists from all MPSA business units.
MPSA’s Corporate Global Sourcing Director Rich Boukal offered insight into MPSA’s expectations in regards to supplier partnerships, and how improved partnerships can have a successful outcome for all. Kevin Beddard, the company’s General Manager of Construction and Commissioning, provided attendees with a review of enhancements of required site delivery procedures.
Rich Boukal presented “Excellence in Performance Recognition” awards to six key MPSA Supplier Partners at the conference. Those selected were Alin Machining, Brilex Industries, Inc., Marmen, Inc., Warren Fabricating and Machining Corporation, Specialty Products & Insulation, Inc. and Western Integrated Technologies.
Presenting the complexities of manufacturing and opportunities
Each MPSA Business Unit then provided a brief presentation about the current commodities they are purchasing as well as future opportunities in the market. The group then traveled to MPSA’s new Savannah Machinery Works and broke into ten groups for a two hour plant tour that highlighted the work ethic, innovation and technology on display at the facility every business day.
Mr. Williams stated, “Our Supplier Partners provided very positive feedback about this opportunity to meet and interact with members of MPSA’s supplier community and personally see the investment and future business opportunities with MPSA. This is a company on the cutting edge of power innovation but to achieve that goal requires an effective and dynamic `partnership’ with our suppliers.”
The effort brought appreciation and applause from many of the companies that attended. Tony Ahern, JF Ahern Company’s Pipe Fabrication Executive Vice President told MPSA, “Thanks for allowing Ahern to be a part of this event. Our team really enjoyed the tour of the Savannah plant and had great conversations with all the various MPSA folks. It sounds like MPSA is embarking on some very exciting endeavors. We are very committed to continued investment in growing our relationship. Your success is our success, and we look forward to a healthy future with MPSA.”
His thoughts were echoed by Kent D. Revard, Project Team Leader at Specialty Products & Insulation who said, “Our team continually strives to improve our processes and service, and this event was beneficial by allowing us to gain a better understanding of your requirements and learn about the complexity of your business. The plant tour was very impressive!”
